Teaching Complex Skills :

Title: Teaching Complex skills to your students using Task Analysis, Prompting, Fading, Shaping. 

Sometimes you may struggle to teach your child complex skills like dressing self or making a sandwich. This workshop will teach you how to break up a complex skill into smaller teachable units and then how to teach the units successfully.

This will improve your understanding of the teaching process and make you successful in planning and teaching skills to your child.

Mother & Child CLM Course of Study

Competent Learner Model Course with Coaching – Instructor Level with Supervision for your Child’s program.

The CLM is designed to teach & empower parents/caregivers who are keen to learn and implement an ABA based intervention. Trainees will receive gradual, step-by-step, practical coaching, guidance and support to conduct their CLM implementation with a learner.

How it works:

The course is based on Personalized System of Instruction. Your CLM coach will help you set up a timeline for completion, but it the trainee’s responsibility to stay on task. In case of any change in schedule, the trainee may contact their coach and reframe the timeline. There are no tests or exams; there are practical checkouts. The trainee will attend class with their learner and be involved in providing CLM curriculum under coaching supervision from a CLM coach. Trainee will also receive lecture based training, group discussions and role playing with other trainees.

We need to see that you can “DO IT”

FOR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS: The trainee may take CLM Course of Study (CoS) in four segments. The courses are online with handouts, videos and q & a in each unit. A certified CLM Coach provides coaching live and/or virtually for at least 3 hours per unit.

Pre Requisites to Take the CLM Course of Study:

  • Paret or Caregiver of a child with special needs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Agreement to share information about the child for whom the trainee will implement the curriculum.
  • Fluent Computer Skills
  • Good English Language Fluency (Written & Spoken)
  • Keen motivation to learn,
  • Commitment to work hard.

Time Line:

This course sequence is designed to take 12-18 months to complete provided the Trainee completes all tasks as per requirement. You need to plan for 3-5 hours of online study and meetings and 3-5 hours of implementation with your learner per week for this course.

The course is based on Personalized System of Instruction. Your CLM coach will help you set up a timeline for completion, but it the trainee’s responsibility to stay on task.

The Learner (Child):

The Learner’s parents/guardians will need to provide written consent for him/her to be on CLM curriculum and to share his/her information with CLM/A&BTi staff.

If the Learner has severely aggressive or injurious behaviors then we recommend he/she also receive services of a BCBA immediately, such a service provider can be recommended by CLM team.

 Completion of all units leads to CLM Instructor Certification.

 This model ensures training and coaching of all instructors in training by experienced coaches & Monthly supervision of learner and instructor.

Toilet Training

Course Duration: 4 Hours

Acceptance & Coping

DURATION: Set of 5 Sessions: 90 mins each

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) gets it name from one of its core messages: accept what is out of your personal control, and commit to action that improves and enriches your life. The aim of ACT is to maximize the human potential for a rich, full and meaningful life. ACT (which is pronounced as the word ‘act’, not as the initials) does this by:

  1. a) teaching you mindfulness skills to deal with your painful thoughts and feelings effectively – in such a way that they have much less impact and influence over you.
  1. b) helping you to clarify what is truly important and meaningful to you – i.e your values – then use that knowledge to guide, inspire and motivate you to change your life for the better.
